Join our tour group to the once notoriously hard to access Kingdom of Saudi Arabia which has only recently opened up to tourism and offers a new tourist visa programme for 51 nationalities.
Our tour begins in the capital city, Riyadh, where you’ll explore the modern centre of Saudi Arabia as well as its ancient history in and around, from the ancient capital quarter of Al Turaif where the Saudi Royal family are from, to the very top of Kingdom Tower towering 300 metres (984 feet) over the city. In the afternoon you’ll be taken to the very Edge of the World at Jebel Fihrayn that offers spectacular views 3from the high cliffs that appears to be a sudden drop off the planet.
From Riyadh we’ll take our private transport to Buraidah – the capital of Al-Qassim region located in the heart of the Arabian Peninsula. Known to the locals as the “alimental basket” of the country, for its agricultural assets, this area is most renowned to the outside world as the most conservative part of the entire Kingdom. On the way stopping to explore the hidden oasis of Ushaiger.
Saudi Arabia does not lack camels, and whilst in Qassim you’ll have the opportunity to visit the largest camel market in the world. This is also one of the most chaotic scenes we’ve experienced in the country and giving you a truly unique Saudi experience.
We’ll continue your adventure to ancient city of Haʼil where the the landscapes of a thousand and one night were inspired, making our way to the top of Jabal Al Samra and to explore what remains of A’arif Fort.
We’ll then arrive at the highlight of this entire tour, Al Ula, which is home to Saudi Arabia’s first UNESCO World Heritage Site deep within the desert. We’ll drink tea and soak in the atmosphere that surrounds Elephant Rock, a giant monolithic red sandstone carved by natural forces after millions of years. You’ll also explore the ancient tombs that remain as the legacy of 7,000 years of human civilisation. This area remains largely off the global tourism radar, having this all to ourselves.
Next you’ll visit the second holiest city in Islam, Medina, walking the most famous street connecting the Holy Mosque to Qiba Mosque. You’ll also have the opportunity to explore our most favourite pedestrian street on the Arabian peninsula lined with incredible Arabic street food.
We’ll then board Saudi’s fast railway to Jeddah. Here we’ll visit the stunning labyrinthine of Al Balad old town and its majestic coral houses, old souqs and walk along the famous corniche. The trip concludes in Jeddah with the option of going snorkelling in the Red Sea!
