Introduction
The Pyongyang Taedonggang Seafood Restaurant (평양 대동강수산물식당) is one of the newest and best seafood restaurant in Pyongyang. It was opened on July 27th, 2018, to mark the 65th Anniversary Victory Day Celebrations.

Location of the best seafood restaurant in Pyongyang
The Taedonggang Seafood restaurant is located centrally in Pyongyang along the picturesque banks of the Taedong River. The design of the restaurant is said to depict a boat floating on the river.
The restaurant covers a total area of 24,000 sq m and is three stories high. At any given time the restaurant can accommodate 1,200 patrons. From the balcony on the top level, there are excellent views of the Rungna People’s Recreation Ground, Moran Hill, May Day Stadium and other sights in and around the river.

The 1st floor of the Restaurant has ponds teeming with sturgeons, salmons, rainbow trout, carps and other species, including shellfish and terrapins.
This area is quite popular with locals as they can come in catch a fish and have it either cooked up at the restaurant or get it to take away to enjoy at home with their families.
The second floor of the restaurant is actually home to various separate, smaller seafood restaurants, all with their own unique style similar to what you may find at a shopping mall food court.

On the second floor, you will find a public dining hall, private family dining rooms, a restaurant preparing traditional Korean seafood dishes, sushi restaurants and a shop selling a variety of processed seafood products ready to be taken home, such as dried talpi.
The third floor features a seafood buffet restaurant as well as a bar with draft Taedonggang Beer and cocktails available. There is also an outdoor seating area on the third floor, which provides excellent sunset views in the summertime.
Eating at Taedonggang Seafood Restaurant

As the best seafood restaurant in Pyongyang it is not included as a “KITC” meal. That means that you pay for your meal as usual at the end. By North Korean terms it would be considered a higher end restaurant.
The cheapest option for visiting here is the seafood buffet, which costs $10 per person. If you opt to eat at any of the other restaurants available in the complex, expect to spend around $20-$30 for your meal.
Historical Significance
Shortly after the restaurant opened, the third inter-Korean summit of 2018 was held in Pyongyang between Marshal Kim Jong Un and South Korean President Moon Jae-In.
The two leaders shared dinner at the Pyongyang Taedonggang Seafood Restaurant accompanied by their wives. The event was heavily covered in DPRK state media. And of course as well as great seafood, they also had Pyongyang Cold Noodles!
