Why Second Passports Matter More Than Ever
The key topic of this episode is passport diversification.
Marko compares holding only one citizenship to investing your entire life savings in a single company. No matter how strong that country may seem today, political conditions, visa access, and global relationships can change rapidly.
About 75 percent of countries in the world now allow multiple citizenships, a dramatic increase from just a few decades ago. This means that individuals can legally hold multiple passports, giving them expanded travel access, greater flexibility, and increased long term security.
For travelers, this has immediate implications. Certain passports face restrictions or visa barriers that others do not. A second passport can dramatically expand where you can travel freely and reduce bureaucratic hurdles.
For families, the benefits extend even further. Citizenship can often be passed down to future generations, providing long term security and opportunity.
How Does Citizenship By Investment Work?

During the episode, Marko explains how citizenship by investment programs allow individuals to legally acquire citizenship in certain countries in exchange for a qualifying donation or investment.
Today, approximately 15 countries offer such programs, ranging from Caribbean nations to emerging programs in Africa and beyond.
Two of the most notable new programs are SĂŁo TomĂ© & PrĂncipe and Sierra Leone, which offer unique opportunities for individuals interested in expanding access to emerging markets and the global south.
These programs provide not only travel benefits, but also long term strategic advantages including asset diversification, access to new regions, and enhanced global mobility.
Importantly, citizenship acquired through these programs is legally equivalent to any other citizenship in those countries and can typically be passed down to future generations.
Citizenship Is More Than Travel
As Marko explains in the podcast, citizenship is not just about travel convenience.
It also determines where you can live, work, and build your future.
Many countries belong to regional blocs that offer special rights to citizens of member states. For example, citizenship in one country may provide simplified residency or migration options to others within the same bloc.
This makes strategic citizenship planning a powerful tool for individuals seeking greater freedom, security, and flexibility in an unpredictable world.
