The Venezuelan government has launched a new electronic visa (eVisa) system for foreign nationals applying for tourist and business visas.
The updated system is designed to modernise immigration procedures by reducing administrative steps, eliminating the need for in-person appointments, and improving processing efficiency.

Check your eligibility
Before applying, confirm whether you need a visa to enter Venezuela:
Under the new system, eligible applicants, including citizens of countries such as the United States, Canada, and others who previously required in-person consular applications, can now submit their visa requests online and receive a response via email. This replaces the previous process that required applicants to apply through embassies or consulates.
Venezuelan eVisa application portal
Individuals interested in applying should visit the Venezuela eVisa website.
Once you are on the homepage, click on “Visas Electrónicas”.
Create an account
After clicking on “Visas Electrónicas”, you will be redirected to the electronic visa platform, where you need to create a personal account: https://cancilleriadigital.mppre.gob.ve/login
To begin, select the option to “Si estas ingresando por primera vez, regístrate” (this is for first-time applications).
Please note that the website is in Spanish. You can still complete the process easily by using translation tools:
- Use Google Translate (either the app or browser extension)
- Or activate your browser’s built-in translation feature (for example, in Chrome, right-click and select “Translate to English”)
You will then need to complete the registration form by providing:
- Confirm that you are a foreigner (not a Venezuelan citizen)
- Your country of citizenship
- Your passport number
- Your email address
- A secure password
Confirm your email
After creating your account, you will receive a confirmation email. Please check your inbox and click the verification link provided in the message to confirm your email address.
Residency and Immigration Status
In the next step of the application, you will be asked to select the country where you currently reside, and you need to specify your immigration status in that country.
Initial registration
During the initial registration step, you will be required to provide your personal information. This includes details such as your full name, passport number, marital status, and place of birth (city of birth).
Please note that if you select a specific country of nationality, your place of birth must match that selection. For example, if you are applying using a U.S. passport, you must also indicate that you were born in the United States. The system will not accept applications where the selected nationality and country of birth do not align.
Once you have completed the personal information section, you will be required to upload a copy of your passport. Make sure that your passport copy is clear, valid, and fully readable. All details, including your photo, passport number, and expiration date, should be visible.
Next, you will be required to provide your address and phone number. You will also be asked to provide a non-family contact from the country where you are currently located.
The final step allows you to add a family member you would like the authorities to contact if necessary. This section is optional and does not affect the outcome of your application.
Request process
Once you have completed all personal details, you will need to submit your official visa request through the system.
Start by clicking on “My Request” on the left-hand menu, then select the “+” (Add Request) button to create a new application.
Next, choose the correct mission.
After that, click the “+” button again to add a procedure. Select the appropriate visa category, “Visa de turista” (Tourist Visa), and choose your corresponding region, such as North America, Asia, or another applicable area.
You will then be required to enter your flight information.
The final step is to upload the supporting documents for your visa application. You will need to provide:
- A passport-size photo with a white background
- A clear copy of your passport
- You will also need to complete the official application form, which can be found on the following website: https://mppre.gob.ve/cancilleria-digital
Look for the section titled “Planilla solicitud de visas / Visa application form.” Download the form and fill in all required details carefully.
After attaching all the required documents, click “Complete the process’ to proceed.”
You will receive an email confirming that your application has been submitted. No payment is required.
They will contact you with a decision. The process can take up to 15 days.
You can return to the website, log in, and track the status of your application. Once approved, you must print the visa and present it to immigration authorities upon arrival in Venezuela.
