What the Juba Yam Hotel?
The Juba Yam Hotel is one of the newer kids on the block in what is a pretty dire hotel scene. Built largely to cater to NGO workers, aviation staff and the odd businessman passing through Juba International Airport, it has quickly carved out a reputation as one of the better places to stay in the city.
It is believed to have a mix of local and foreign backing, with a strong Asian influence in both management style and service delivery. Unlike many legacy hotels in Juba that feel tired and overpriced, the Yam actually feels like someone gave a shit when putting it together.
Yam Hotel Facilities
Facilities here are actually decent, which in Juba terms puts it ahead of most of the competition. There is a rooftop restaurant and bar on the 6th floor that serves as both breakfast area and evening hangout spot with solid views over the city and runway.
The food is good by local standards and room service is reliable. Downstairs you have a lively bar and nightclub area which gets particularly busy on weekends and ladies nights. There is parking on site, security is tight as you would expect in Juba and WiFi while not amazing is at least usable, which already makes it better than half the hotels in town.
The Juba Yam Hotel vibe
I was actually invited here as a guest due to a TikTok I did about the Flower In Hotel going viral. The Flower Inn was expensive and got flooded. The experience of coming to the Yam though was fabulous, with the customer service being great and everyone being so welcoming.
The rooms here are just great and if you pick the right one give you a view of planes taking off and landing. I saw the President even, although take photos very much at your own peril. Nightlife here too is great with the bar taking in eclectic crowd. Overall to me anyway the best hotel in Juba.
