Fresh off our Bangladesh, Bhutan & Nepal: Unexplored South Asia Tour, we invite you to join us for an epic journey through the little-visited region of Sikkim, formerly known as the Kingdom of Sikkim, nestled high in the stunning cloud-filled Indian Himalayas.
We’ll dive into the highlights of Sikkim, wandering the peaceful halls of Rumtek Monastery, soaking up the vibe along MG Marg, gazing over the alpine waters of Tsongmo Lake, and uncovering the history of Enchey Monastery. And all of this while we simultaneously embrace and learn about the fabulous history and culture of what was, until very recently, the Kingdom of Sikkim. This is not your regular India, this is a truly unique untouched gem.
From there, the adventure continues aboard the legendary Darjeeling Himalayan “Toy Train”, winding your way through the hills to the iconic tea country of Darjeeling. Expect colonial-era charm, sweeping views, and the kind of laid-back atmosphere that makes it easy to settle in with a hot cup of one of the hundreds of fabulous teas make in the area.
And if this were not enough we will also get up at the crack of dawn to see the sunrise rise over the Himalayas! This is truly one of the best tours that YPT offers. Yet despite this few people even know Sikkim even exists, meaning you will likely be (alongside the other Pioneers) the only foreign tourists in the area.
Our Sikkim Tour can be combined with our Bangladesh, Bhutan, and Nepal packages to complete the “Himalayan Kingdoms” in one swoop. We are also currently working on an extension to Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland, which we hope to publish soon.
