As of 3rd January 2026 it has been announced that not only has the United States conducted a bombing campaign on Venezuela, but also that President Maduro and his wife have been taken prisoner.
This will obviously have a huge impact on tourism in general within the country, as well as the tours that Young Pioneer Tours can and do offer. In short this will mean a suspension of tours, although it is currently very much unknown what might happen next.

What has actually happened?
Right now the situation in Venezuela is chaotic and evolving faster than you can blink. Early on 3rd January, explosions were reported across Caracas and other key areas, apparently linked to U.S. military strikes. The U.S. government claims that President Nicolás Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores were captured and removed from the country, but Venezuelan authorities dispute these claims and have demanded proof of life.
Power outages, roadblocks, and unrest have been reported in parts of the capital, while the military and government institutions remain largely under the control of Maduro’s United Socialist Party of Venezuela. No independent verification of Maduro’s whereabouts has been confirmed, and foreign diplomatic responses are ongoing.
Everything is in flux. The truth is, nobody really knows how this will unfold next, and conditions on the ground could change by the hour. It is a developing situation and we are monitoring it as closely as possible.
What this means for tours to Venezuela
In the short term all tours to Venezuela offered by Young Pioneer Tours are suspended until much more is known about the situation. This means no new bookings can be taken for the time being. Future tours are not yet cancelled, at least until the situation becomes far clearer and we can determine if travel to Venezuela is even remotely safe.
At the moment, much like the rest of the world, we are watching an ever-evolving situation. Customers will be updated immediately when we have confirmed information that affects travel plans.
