All aboard! Embark with YPT on an extraordinary journey to Sri Lanka. Our meticulously designed itinerary will enable you to experience the best of this island nation, from its cultural treasures to its scenic wonders and gastronomic delights.
Your adventure will begin in the vibrant cityscape of Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka, where you’ll explore the colonial architecture and savour the diverse food offerings of the city.
You’ll then venture to the heart of the Cultural Triangle, where you’ll visit the archaeological testimonies of bygone eras, from the beginning of the Sinhalese monarchy in the 6th century B.C. through the arrival of European Colonialists in the 16th century. You’ll explore the majestic ruins of Polonnaruwa, ascend the Sigiriya Rock Fortress, a UNESCO marvel perched atop a monolithic rock, and be rewarded with incredible panoramic vistas.
The rhythmic clatter of train wheels will accompany you along the trip, as you traverse through the country on some of the world’s most scenic rail routes. Or even THE most scenic route, as the journey from Kandy to Ella is often referred to. It passes through lush tea plantations dotted by people in saris, before ascending toward the Ella mountains, close to the postcard-perfect Nine Arch Bridge.
Sri Lanka’s magic extends beyond its landscapes and archaeological treasures, so this will also be a culinary journey, in which you’ll discover the island’s unique blend of spices and flavours with our local insiders and even learn the secrets of traditional dishes from locals.
