Join YPT on a truly unique New Year celebration in Iraqi Kurdistan, a prospective new nation protected by the Peshmerga which were at the forefront of the fight with ISIS.
Despite its significance and proximity to probably the tensest area in the world, Kurdistan offers not only safety but beautiful scenery, famed in Middle Eastern literature as a paradise on earth, with more than 3500 archaeological sites and some of the most friendly and welcoming people on earth.
With us you’ll have the opportunity to visit some of the most historical places in the middle east, including the Koya Fortress in Sulaymaniyah, the world’s only Yazidi shrine in Lalish and explore the oldest continuously inhabited city on earth.
If that’s not enough, you can witness natural beauty at its best as we pass through Lake Dokan, stop at Bekhal Waterfall, and visit Kharand Gorge, the deepest gorge in the Middle East.
Also, along the way, you will get the chance to engage with locals about their struggle with Saddam Hussein and, more recently, the war with ISIS. A truly eye-opening experience.
Finally, we conclude the tour by farewelling the old year and welcoming in the new at one of the best restaurants in Erbil, followed by a rooftop part where we witness an incredible firework display from the Citadel.
Iraqi Kurdistan is visa on arrival for many nationalities. So, whether you are a former Pioneer or new to us, join us on this tour within a living history region.
