Sunday 30^th July

• Meet your YPT guide at 1:30pm at the Beijing Zhong Gu Hotel near Beijing Railway Station found here. During this meeting, we’ll go through the tour’s itinerary, receive DPRK visas and tickets, as well as a great chance to meet your fellow travellers and to discuss any other questions you may have about the DPRK.
• Train takers depart Beijing Central station at 5:25pm for the 24-hour sleeper ride to Pyongyang.

Monday 31^st July

• Train group arrive at Dandong at 7:00am for Chinese border control then depart for Sinuiju at 10:00am for the extensive border control from the DPRK side
• Flight takers depart Beijing Airport Terminal 2 on Air Koryo at 12:00pm (Group will meet at the Air Koryo check in counter).
• Flight group arrive in Pyongyang at 3:30pm to a warm welcome from your Korean guides.
• Train group arrive at 5:30pm to an equally warm welcome.
• In the evening your YPT guide will show you around the hotel before taking you for drinks and to get to know your Korean guides
• Dinner and overnight at the Yanggakdo Hotel.

Tuesday 1^st August

Morning

• Early wake up for a drive down to Kaesong city (2 and half hours).
• Panmunjon DMZ Village- see the DMZ and the treaty and conferences rooms where the armstice was signed all in the company of a friendly KPA officer guide (You can also take pictures of soldiers here!)
• Koryo Museum- the oldest university in Korea and now a converted museum of local history. Also the site of the best propaganda and stamp/postcard shop in the DPRK!

Afternoon

• Lunch at the Thongil Restaurant in Kaesong City- try your hand at traditional Korean Pansangi- a series of dishes served in bronze bowls. (Optional extras- Dog soup 5 euro, Ginseng Stuffed Whole Chicken 30 euro- can be split between several).
• Tomb of King Kongmin- the only original tomb of it’s kind still standing in the DPRK.
• Drop by Sariwon City (Capital of North Hwanghae province) to walk in the local folkcustom park and view the city from the mountain top pagoda, as well as grab a beer or Makkoli in a local bar.
• Photo opportunity of the Monument to the Three Charters of National Reunification, standing over the Thongil Highway.
• Drive back to Pyongyang
• Dinner at the KITC Restaurant in Mangyongdae
• Kaeson Youth Park (entry 2 euros, rides 3 to 5 euros extra each depending on how awesome they are).
• Overnight at the Yanggakdo hotel.

Wednesday 2^nd August

Morning

• Walk through Mansudae fountain park and see the mosaic pictures of President Kim Il Sung and the leader Kim Jong Il.
• Visit Mansudae Grand Monument to show our respects to the President Kim Il Sung and the Leader Kim Jong Il. (Optional extra- you can present flowers if you wish: 5 euro).
• Foreign Language Bookshop- with a large selection of books in English and other European Languages as well as other souvenirs, followed by a short walk to:
• Kim Il Sung Square the central square of Pyongyang city and the place where all the action happens.

Afternoon

• Lunch in a local Hot Pot restaurant.
• Pyongyang Metro- ride 5 stops on the famous Pyongyang Underground!
• Exiting at the Arch of Triumph- the largest Victory Arch in the world, built to celebrate the triumphant return of Kim Il Sung after the Anti-Japanese war.
• Korean War Museum- Let the expert local guide show you around the enormous museum featuring dioramas, locally used weapons, tanks etc, and captured American equipment!
• USS Pueblo- The only US Naval Ship still held captive by another nation.
• Visit the Juche Tower – monument to the everlasting Juche Ideology (optional 5 euro to go to the top)
• Visit Taedonggang Brewery #3 for coffee and local draft beers
• Dinner at the Dongsong restaurant
• Overnight in Yanggakdo hotel

Thursday 3^rd August

Morning

• Kumsusan Palace of the Sun- The resting place for the President Kim Il Sung and the General Kim Jong Il.
• Revolutionary Martyr’s Cemetery- The resting place of the greatest of the anti-Japanese revolutionary fighters each grave features a bronze bust of the hero laid to rest within.

Afternoon

• Lunch at the Gold Cup Restaurant.
• Trip Highlight – We’ll visit the Pyongyang Football Academy to explore the facilities and to play a friendly game of football the with local students
• Munsu Water Park- With Indoor and outdoor pools and amazing waterslides, the park also features plenty for those who don’t want to swim, including a Haemaji coffee shop, a beer bar, table tennis, billiards, massage or a beauty salon (various services extra charge, swimming and access to the gym, table tennis and billiards is 10 euro).
• Dinner at the National restaurant with performance by the waitresses
• Taedonggang Beer Festival – this is the second year for the famous Pyongyang Beer Festival to be held and we have been invited to join the festival and to try Pyongyang’s finest beers on tap!
• Overnight at the Yanggakdo hotel.

Friday 4^th August

Group A Depart:

• Group A flight members depart at 8.30am for Beijing on Air Koryo. (Arriving at 10:00am Beijing time).
• Group A train members depart at 10:10am for Beijing on train K28. (Arriving at 9:00am on Saturday the 5th).

Morning

• Drive to Nampo City (2 hours)
• Chollima Steel Complex- One of the DPRK’s most famous industrial sites – named after the Chollima movement it helped lead. Here we’ll see workers in action as we watch the steps on how Koreans forge steel.

Afternoon

• Lunch at the Hangu harbour hotel – a quiet and less visited hotel in Nampo city
• West Sea Barrage- An astounding example of socialist construction, the barrage was built to keep the salty water of the West sea from rendering parts of the Taedonggan river and surrounding farmland useless as well as to tame the local sea.
• Unique trip highlight – Swim at Nampo beach and hang out with the locals!
• Dinner and Overnight at the Ryonggang hot spa hotel- with a mineral spa in each room! Great place for billiards and ping pong. Here we have a chance to try Korea’s famous Korean clam BBQ for 5 euros extra.

Saturday 5^th August

Morning

• Chongsan Co-operative farm- One of the top co-op farms in the DPRK and a model of the co-op method. Here we’ll be able to explore the village and possibly visit the nursery, a farmers house or even the local theatre.
• Kangso Mineral water factory- Home to the DPRK’s most famous sparkling water- with samples!
• Drive back to Pyongyang

Afternoon

• Lunch at the New Stamp Restaurant
• Visit Meari Shooting Range – this shooting range has recently been renovated to include indoor shooting with pistols, rifles or archery! .50 US cents per bullet
• Visit a local department store and see how stores are operated
• Rakwon Beer Bar- home of some of the cheapest draft pints in Pyongyang (50 cents each!) soda and juices are also available.
• Dinner at the Original KITC Restaurant in Mangyongdae District
• Overnight at the Youth hotel to experience another hotel in Pyongyang! This hotel was built for the World Youth Games back in 1989 and has Pyongyang’s only outdoor swimming pool that tourists can jump into!

Sunday 6^th August

Morning

• Drive to Wonsan City – the best beach city in DPRKorea! 5 hours driving in total including a rest/scenic stop at:
• Sinpyong Lagoon

Afternoon

• Picnic lunch at Ulim Waterfall – one of the most famous and beautiful waterfalls in the DPRK
• Arrive in Wonsan, check into our Tongmyong hotel
• Another awesome trip highlight! – Swim at Wonsan beach and hang out with the locals! 2 euros entry to beach
• Walk along the pier to Chok Islet where the locals will be fishing, drinking and enjoying BBQ – we’ll have the chance to eat some locally caught seafood on the pier! optional 5 euros
• Dinner at the famous Wonsan seafood restaurant in the city
• Drinks and overnight in Tongmyong hotel which overlooks the gorgeous bay

Monday 7^th August

Morning

• Walk around the central square and near the port in the city and see the DPRK Mangyongbong-92 cruise ship with an explanation.
• Visit the former Railway Station Revolutionary site where an old Japanese steam engine rests
• Songdowan International Children’s Union Camp- This recently renovated summer camp was designed for children both in the DPRK and for international guests. It holds a small water park, dormitories, aquatic centre, aviary, track & field and much more.

Afternoon

• Lunch at a local Wonsan restaurant to sample some famous local dishes
• Drive back to Pyongyang
• Stop by the Tomb of King Tongmyong – the founder of the ancient Goguryeo kingdom
• Dinner at the famous Duck BBQ restaurant in Reunification District
• Head to Koryo Hotel to explore the hotel and to have drinks at the micro brewery in their lobby
• Overnight in the newly renovated deluxe Sosan Hotel – We think this hotel is one of the fanciest in Pyongyang!

Tuesday 8^th August

Morning

• Group B flight members depart at 8:20am for Beijing on Air Koryo. (Arriving at 9:55am Beijing time).
• Group B train members depart at 10:10am for Beijing on train K28. (Arriving at 9:00am on Wednesday the 9th).

Group C continue on:

• Drive to the newly opened city of Pyongsong – 45 minutes north of Pyongyang
• Visit Mother Kim Jong Suk Middle School No. 1 – this school is famous for educating students wanting to be scientists or engineers. Their level of English is quite high so we help them by being heavily involved in their classes by doing introductions of ourselves and one-on-one activities with the students. We’ve had previous YPT tourists say this is one of the best experiences they had in the DPRK.
• Paeksonri Foodstuffs factory – This factory produces a wide variety of goods, largely from corn.

Afternoon

• Lunch at the Jangsusan Hotel in Pyongsong
• Drive up to Hyangsan town situated near Mt. Myohyang (2 hours)
• Visit Ryongmun cavern – one of the most famous cave structures in Korea, it’s well known for its size and the uniqueness of its rock formations.
• Dinner, drinks and overnight at Chongchun Hotel

Wednesday 9^th August

Morning

• Visit the International Friendship Exhibition – Two large gift houses holding the gifts presented to both Kim Il Sung, Kim Jong Il and Kim Jong Un from people, governments and institutions all over the world. Something not to be missed!
• Pohyon Temple – One of the 5 famous temples of Korea and one of the largest Buddhist temples in the DPRK.

Afternoon

• Lunch at the Chongchun hotel
• Drive back to Pyongyang
• Visit the Korean Film Studio where we’ll have a chance to dress up in costume and check out the backdrops of fake locations such as Seoul, China, Japan and even Europe!
• Stop by the Mansudae Art Studio where all the art works, portraits and monuments from the government are produced
• Dinner and massive farewell drinks at Moran Hill Restaurant
• Overnight at the Youth hotel to experience another hotel in Pyongyang! This hotel was built for the World Youth Games back in 1989 and has Pyongyang’s only outdoor swimming pool that tourists can jump into!

Thursday 10^th August

Morning

• Group C flight members depart at 10:00am for Beijing on Air Koryo. (Arriving at 11:30am Beijing time).
• Group C train members depart at 10:10am for Beijing on train K28. (Arriving at 9:00am on Friday the 11th).
