Caucasus Marathons Tour
Three marathons, three countries, five days. Basing ourselves in Tbilisi, this tour offers a unique opportunity to run marathons in all three countries of the Southern Caucasus – Georgia, Armenia and Azerbaijan. As well as running the marathons, you’ll see some of the beautiful scenery that this part of the world is famous for, and get to know Tbilisi, which is a surprisingly cool and interesting city. Somehow it’s got the right mixture of being a former Soviet capital, a medieval old town, and also a modern hive of activity, whilst being dramatically beautiful with the centre being built on the edges of cliffs.
If you’d like to spend longer in Georgia and see more of the country while you’re there, there are two extensions available either before or after this tour.
Day 1 Friday August 17th
- Meet your YPT guide at Tbilisi International Airport.
- Transfer to your accommodation and free time in the former Soviet Union’s most hip city.
- You might like to wander around the winding streets of the old town, take a ride on the elaborate Soviet-built metro, catch the cable car to the Mother Georgia monument, or just relax and enjoy some of the cool cafes and restaurants that line the city centre streets.
- Overnight in Tbilisi.
Day 2 Saturday August 18th
- Drive 1-2 hours to the Armenian border, through some of the spectacular mountainous regions that the South Caucasus are so famous for.
- Run the first marathon of the trip, in Armenia.
- After the marathon, cross the border back into Georgia and return to Tbilisi.
- Dinner and overnight in Tbilisi.
Day 3 Sunday August 19th
- After having already spent two nights there, you’ll have gotten to know Tbilisi a little bit, so now it’s time to run your Georgian marathon.
- Overnight in Tbilisi.
Day 4 Monday August 20th
- Wake up bright and early to cross the Azeri border – another amazing drive through some unbelievable landscapes.
- Run a marathon in Azerbaijan.
- When the marathon’s complete, cross the border back into Georgia and return to Tbilisi.
- Overnight in Tbilisi.
Day 5 Tuesday August 21st
- Airport transfers according to flight times, or join one of our extension options.
