Tonga Tours and Travel for 2026 and 2027

YPT Tours to Tonga

Our Tonga tours take you deep into one of the last remaining monarchies in the Pacific and the birthplace of one of Polynesia’s most powerful ancient civilisations: the Tu‘i Tonga Empire. Once stretching across large parts of the Pacific, the Tu‘i Tonga dynasty shaped regional culture, navigation, language, and social systems for nearly a thousand years. This legacy still lives on today in Tonga’s traditions, royal protocols, and spiritual practices, making the islands a remarkable place where ancient Polynesia remains tangible and alive.

Located east of Fiji and south of Samoa, Tonga consists of around 170 islands, with only about 36 inhabited, offering untouched beaches, turquoise waters, and authentic village life. Known as the “Friendly Islands,” Tonga remains untouched by mass tourism, giving visitors the chance to experience the Pacific in its original form, where nature feels raw, the people are welcoming, and cultural traditions remain vivid.

Unlike many nations in the region, Tonga was never fully colonized. While it became a British protectorate in the late 19th century, it preserved its monarchy and cultural sovereignty, regaining full independence in 1970. Touring Tonga with YPT allows you to experience the country in the most complete way, from its stunning natural landscapes to its proud history and warm cultural traditions.
