YPT Tours to Thailand

Known as the Kingdom of smiles, Thailand tours ans travel are nothing new to global travellers. For decades now they have been visiting its natural wonders and historical sights, discovering its history, culture and gastronomy, from the White Temple to the infamous Khao San Road.

However, there is a whole other, darker side to Thailand. It offers the kind of adventure that we love and that makes Thailand what you might call a “YPT Destination”.

Group Tours to Thailand

YPT currently offer one tour including Thailand, namely our Ultimate South-East Asian Adventure, a 10-day trip that also goes to Cambodia and Vietnam at a quick pace. If you wish to see more, we offer bespoke tours to Thailand throughout the year.

Ultimate South-East Asia Adventure – July 15-26th 2024 – $1195

Independent Tours to Thailand

Young Pioneer Tours have run tour that go through Thailand since 2015. YPT can thus arrange tours that go deep into Thailand or link with tours, or as extensions to tours in Myanmar, Cambodia, Vietnam and beyond.

Below is our example Thailand tour. This can be extended or combined with other activities to create independent Thailand tours.

Example of a 7-day Thailand Itinerary

Day 1

  • Arrive in Bangkok at your own convenience.
  • You can spend the afternoon exploring the Grand Palace, the majestic temples of Wat Pho or Wat Arun, or decide to immerse yourself in Thai culture by mingling with the locals at a Muay Thay match or having a look at the floating market.
  • Start your evening leisurely with a cruise of the canals of Bangkok’s Chao Praya River before heading to the bustling Khao San Road, referred to as “The Vortex” by locals and tourists alike.

Day 2

  • After breakfast at your hotel, continue your visit of Bangkok before heading to Ayutthaya, located in the North of the city.
  • Visit the ancient city of Ayutthaya and the temples of Wat Mahathat and Wat Phra Si Sanphet. The ruins of the old city, dating from the 14th to the 18th century and characterized by the prang (reliquary towers) and gigantic monasteries are listed as an UNESCO World Heritage Site.
  • After dinner, take an overnight train to Chiang Mai, departing around 8pm and arriving in the northern city at 7:15am the next morning.

Day 3

  • After an early check-in at your hotel to freshen up, enjoy a nice breakfast before starting your discovery of the Old City of Chiang Mai and see some of its most beautiful temples, such as Wat Phra Singh. Chiang Mai was founded in 1296 near major trading routes, which gave the city a big historical significance.
  • In the afternoon, you’ll visit an ethical elephant sanctuary and spend time with these majestic creatures. You can witness the big herd gracefully relax in the park and learn about their individual histories. As YPT stands against animal abuse, we only offer visits to ethical sanctuaries that offer a healthy and fruitful like for the elephants in a natural environment, with no hooks or riding.
  • In the evening, discover the local night markets or dive into nature at Khao Sok National Park on a night safari.

Day 4

  • Take a day trip to Chiang Rai, the northernmost city of Thailand. You’ll start with a walking tour of the city, seeing the Black House, the Clock Tower and the Blue Temple.

  • In the afternoon, explore the picturesque hill tribe villages and tea plantations to get a grasp of the local life and culture here.

Day 5

  • Time for a change of scenery. In the morning, fly to Phuket, Thailand’s largest island and relax on the postcard-perfect Patong Beach, a 3-km stretch of pure white sand.
  • In the afternoon, explore Phuket’s old town’s charming streets and vibrant art scene. This is the perfect place to buy souvenirs, explore old buildings and try Thai traditional dishes.
  • In the evening, enjoy the vibrant nightlife along Bangla Road – with drinks and street food.

Day 6

Day 7

  • Head to Krabi, known for its dramatic limestone cliffs. Visit Railay Beach for rock climbing or simply relax on the beach. This is also a good place to meet the locals. Villagers of the small Ko Klang island have been running a Community Based Tourism project to help visitors learn about their traditions and way of life.
  • In the afternoon, explore the small city of Ao Nang and indulge in some last-minute shopping.
