Join YPT on the Roof of the World for our pilgrimage to Tibet. During this tour we combine the must-see sights of Lhasa including the Potala Palace, other lesser-known monasteries, as well as the Tibet Museum, where we learn the Chinese interpretation of Tibetan history and the role of British imperialism in the area and much more.
We’ve included a day trip to Namtso Lake, passing through some of the most beautiful scenery in the world. We will also explore a rural Tibetan village where we can see and experience more about what life is like outside of Lhasa.
Extend your stay with us on Group B as we head further south west to explore Mt. Everest Base Camp and to spend the evening at the foot of this mighty mountain. Driving there is quite the journey so we’ll stop by and explore smaller Tibetan cities of Shigatse and Gyantse, a fortress, a spectacular glacier, multiple peaks over 5000m high, Tibetan’s longest river and highest lake before we take the train out of Tibet on the world’s highest railway line.
On this tour, we employ local Tibetan guides, making sure we get an interesting and authentic point of view on the situation in Tibet.
The cost includes starting this tour in Xi’an by flight and finishing in Beijing by rail but we are flexible to have you start and finish the tour anywhere by any means, additional costs may be incurred. Please get in touch with us to confirm any other specifics.
