Tuesday 10th May

Morning

• Arrive at your own convenience to Mogadishu, capital city of Somalia. We can assist you with your visa on arrival if necessary.
• Airport transfer to your hotel and check-in
• Pre-tour meeting will be held at the lobby of our hotel at 11:00am to discuss tour itinerary and to meet your fellow travellers and YPT guide.
• Visit the Monument of the Unknown Soldier, a monument dedicated to all soldiers who lost their lives for the independence of Somalia.

Afternoon

• Lunch and travel to Liido Beach, a beach that overlooks the Somali Sea. Grab a cup of Somali tea and mingle with locals while enjoying the sea breeze.
• Go to Peace Park, the largest and most beautiful park in Mogadishu frequented by locals.
• Overnight in hotel.

Wednesday 11th May

Morning

• Breakfast at hotel and check out the Mogadishu Fish Market. One of the largest in Africa.
• Go to the old harbor, Somalia’s oldest port.
• Mogadishu lighthouse – Though no longer in service, it remains an important landmark in Mogadishu and serves as a reminder of the city’s past vibrant past as well as the civil war that left the lighthouse in its current state. It remains damaged but doesn’t stop locals and those brave ebough to climb to the top will get to enjoy a spectacular view of the bay.
• Baraka Market – The largest open market in all of Somalia for nearly half a century.
• Black Hawk Wreckage – Those who have seen Black Hawk Down will recognize these downed helicopters immediately. They were shot down during the war in 1993.

Afternoon

• Lunch at a local restaurant to try the famous local dish of Baasto (pasta) and digaag (chicken) with various other shared dishes.
• Visit bazaars and malls. Here you will have an opportunity to explore shopping areas and experience some local life.
• Jazeera Beach – Another beach in the city that is popular with locals. Here you will have the opportunity to ride a boat to a nearby island.
• Somali Youth League Monument – Founded in 1943, the SYL (then known as the Somali Youth Club) was the first political party in Somalia that played a key role in Somalia’s independence.
• Dhagaxtuur Monument – This monument honors Somalis who lost their lives during their struggle for independence.
• Union Mosque – This mosque is one of the biggest religious sites in the Horn of Africa with a capacity of over 10,000.
• Dinner and overnight in hotel
