Somaliland now issuing visa on arrival for many nationalities

In a move to simplify immigration procedures and promote tourism, the government of Somaliland has announced that it will now issue visas on arrival for a number of countries.

Valid from today, citizens of the EU, Canada, USA, Brazil, China, Russia, Turkey, Egypt, South Africa, Morocco, Tunisia, members of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) such as Saudi, UAE, Bahrain, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait, and IGAD Region Countries planning to visit Somaliland for tourism purposes can now get a visa on arrival at all ports of entry into Somaliland.

Citizens of other countries will still have to apply at a diplomatic mission of Somaliland (such as London, Dubai, Nairobi, Addis Ababa or Djibouti City) and get their visa in advance. In our experience, this procedure is also quite simple and can be done in a day.

Eligible travellers wishing to get their visa on arrival will need to print and fill out a form in advance, which will be found on the website of the Department of Immigration of Somaliland.  At the moment, the form is not yet on the website but we at YPT have gotten our hands on it. Contact us at tours@youngpioneertours.com if you wish to get the form in the meantime. This form will have to be presented along with a visa photo and the fee of 70 US dollars, cash.

As one of YPT’s favourite destinations in Africa, we are rejoicing that the process to visit the country has gotten simpler!

With the visa procedure now so easy, why not join YPT on our next Somaliland Tour for an exciting adventure in one of Africa’s unrecognized countries!
