The Dandong Langtou Airport, popular for its flights from Beijing and Shanghai, will be reopened on the 30th of January 2019. The airport had been closed for the majority of 2018, following undergoing renovations to the terminal and runway.
While Dandong airport facilitates domestic flights within China, it’s mostly used as a military airport for the People’s Liberation Army of China.
Dandong city acts as the gateway connecting China to North Korea, and is where our Ultra-Budget tours start and finish. These particular tours are perfect for those people who are already in China, or those simply travelling through who do not have the time or budget to do a full trip.
WHEN WILL IT REOPEN?
It will reopen on January 30th 2019.
OTHER TRANSPORT OPTIONS
Though that the airport has reopened, there are still many other options to reach Dandong from Beijing, such as the overnight K27/K28 train from Beijing or the fast trains from Dalian, Shenyang, Beijing, Harbin and Shanghai.
For a short period during 2017, Dandong had its first international flight route set between Pyongyang in the DPRK (North Korea). However, due to a lack of demand, the flight route was soon cancelled after a few months.
