Honolulu

Another must-do activity when you are in Honolulu is to hike up the Diamond Head. At the top of this volcanic tuff cone, the picturesque landscapes will surprise you. This activity requires a bit of cardio but it is definitely worth the effort. Diamond Head is accessible by land and there’s a public bus that can transport you from Waikiki. Do you still have the energy after the hike? You can walk back down and take a dip on the beach and it’s undeniably an enjoyable experience.

Kauai

Kauai is the best destination to experience and get in touch with the local wilderness. It is known as the jungle paradise and one of the wettest places on Earth. It seems to glow in the dark due to its lush vegetation.

You can visit Kauai all year-round. It is the perfect destination for the adventure-seekers. It offers numerous on-ground activities that will keep you busy for the duration of your stay on the island. In order to experience the best of what the island has to offer, you must-try the helicopter tour and experience Waimea Canyon. Waimea Canyon is also known as the Grand Canyon of the Pacific. Apart from that, you’ll be mesmerized as you witness the cliffs of the Na Pali Coast with its dramatic sea. There are also various opportunities that this island can offer to make your stay a remarkable one. You can through the jungle, kayak along the tropical rivers or even swim under the hidden waterfalls. Looking for something to eat? Try out the Caffe Coco. This café is located in the Kapaa area along the main highway.

Big Island

To end up the confusion, Big Island and “Hawaii” are the same things. This island offers a wider range of activities than any other island in the chain. Be ready to see the colorful world down under as you can find here great snorkel spots. Hiking and jungle trails and even live volcanic activities are waiting for you on this island.

Since the island is big, you can split your time between two locations. You can spend the first couple of nights on the west side of the island. This side often gets the most number of tourists because some of the best snorkeling spots can be found in Kealakekua Bay where you can see the school of bright yellow tang posing for photos. Kona also offers one of the unique dive spots on the planet. You can try to dive down at night with mask and snorkel along with a bright light in the water which attracts plankton. Plankton is the favorite food of a giant manta ray. It’s absolutely a crazy and wonderful experience.

After enjoying the west side of the Big Island, head towards the eastern side via the southern coast. Don’t forget to stop at Punaluu Bake Shop to taste the best Portuguese malasadas. This snack comes in tropical flavors like mango dough. Visit the small town of Volcano, this is located just outside the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Here, you can walk over hardened lava lake bed by passing through the lava tubes. Witness the glow and spatter from an active volcanic crater. If you’re lucky enough, you may have the chance to see for yourself the red-hot flowing lava and directly flows into the ocean. It will certainly one of the best holiday experiences that you can think of! If you’re visiting the Big Island, hiking in the national park is one of the must-do activities in the area.

Maui

You are about to explore the island of Maui. Don’t forget to drive down the Road to Hana. This is a scenic location that offers a chance to swim in waterfall pools and even relax on the black sand beach of Wai’anapa State Park. If you are looking for food, stop by at Hana Fresh food stand where you can buy organic foods and carry them to a nearby beach. Another attraction that you’ll be seeing as you pass this road is the hippie town of Paia. There is a vast presence of boutique shops, cafe, and a pristine beach just west of town. Another must-try in Maui is the Ululani’s Hawaiian Shave Ice which can be found on numerous spots in Maui, one of them can be found in downtown Lahaina. This shop offers tropical flavours like mango, guava, coconut and passion fruit. It is indeed a good treat on a hot day.

In Maui, you can also have a picnic at night at Puamana Beach Park. This is a local surf spot and the best location to watch the sunset while surfers catch waves. Experience the best of Hawaiian night right there while you eat pie.
